pflanzenanbindung
---
nehmen.
Special, high sensitive solarsoundmodules are connected via long, flexible
antennas with plants. The resistance and capacity values of the vegetable
organisms are an integral component of the soundmodules oscillating circuits.
All the connections result in a regulator system, in which the surrounding
environment has a considerable influence on the sounding development.
EXPOSED MODULES
Since 2001 i exposed several solarrobots and solarsoundmodules
in outside areas. Continuously i checked their operation and reactions of
animals.

MOMENTS OF INVOLVMENT & HUMMING (2004)
Privatgrün /Cologne
(greenhouse, tomato plants, 10 audio kinetic modules)
---
(...) for Privatgrün/Schrebergarten
Ralf Schreiber installed a system of "Growth Encouragements". Each
of the ten tomato plants has been supplied with two small speakers who are
connected to a module hung up above the plants. A small motor is stimulated-
independent of the available light intensity- into short rotations by which
in turn, sounds are arbitrarily generated. These recall katydids, crickets
and cicadas and are played to the plants by way of the small speakers. The
trigger of this procedure is a small sensor that measures the water plants
water balance and feeds the results in the modules electronic. Another small
motor transmits a slight vibration to the plants at intervals. Each tomato
plant is thus an integral element in the generation of sound, regulating the
sound’s characteristics and receives via the second motor a sensitive
feedback (...) Technology and electronics thus fuses with the given biological
reality. In his own way the artist overcomes the traditional break between
nature and technology. Ralf Schreiber has developed, simple yet complex implants
and installed these in the rather provisional situation he has found at hand.
In fact this modules have something elementary in common with the plants.
Both need sunlight to thrive and the protection of the enclosure to survive.
The sounds that stream from the tomato house are evidence of this.

UNTITLED / INTERFERENZE,
San Martino Valle Caudina, Italy 2006
Fifteen high sensitive solarsoundmodules enclosed in perforated table tennis
balls and fixed in shrubs near a small path. The acoustic and electronic output
is mixed with the local nature field sounds. The acoustic range is up to 300
meters. sounds depend on light, humidity and temperature. The acoustic range
is up to 300 meters.
